“I reached out to Ben as I needed help to get back into regular exercise after 6 very inactive years post-pregnancy. We discussed my objective (losing weight) and what I actually enjoyed doing (running mostly). Ben was excellent at making me see further than the short term benefits of weight loss, and we discussed what I always wanted to do to truly challenge myself. That’s how I found myself signing up for a 100km ultra marathon scheduled 12 months away, just as we started working together! That would be our northern star with a few milestones in between. Despite being far from an elite athlete, I have all the confidence Ben will get me there.
Ben is fantastic at finding that edge at each session to push you in the training zone without burning you out in the process. The plan is made so that you are pushed but not hurt by the workouts, so you can always be ready for the next session. The only thing you have to do is show up and commit to the process, and you will see the results. I just completed our first milestone (half-marathon race) 4 months after we started, and I felt fantastic! I have every confidence that Ben will help me get to the start line of the ultra 100km race ready to complete it!
Ben doesn’t pick a program off the shelf either. The weekly check-in allows him to custom-make the next week’s plan based on your target, your fitness level & progress, but also importantly for me, life constraints. I am constantly walking a tightrope of work-childcare-life admin, and it’s just so liberating not to think about my workouts. I just tell Ben what days I can do, and what kit I might have access to those days, and I just follow his plan. No need to think. No excuses. I can’t reiterate how liberating that is to just have him put the plan into place each week. He keeps it varied and interesting as well, so that not one session feels the same. It’s not only extremely beneficial physically, but it is one less thing to worry about in my life, and mentally, that is an immense relief.
I would 100% recommend that you reach out to Ben and discuss your goals. Don’t be intimidated, Ben is very knowledgeable, very approachable, and will make you the best version of yourself you can be. No judgment. No set play. Just you and your coach finding a way to get better.”
